MAER GROUP to support World Taekwondo Championship
From 12 till 18 May 2015, with the support of MAER GROUP media holding, Russia will host the World Taekwondo Championship for the first time. The city of Chelyabinsk was entrusted to host the international competition. According to the preliminary data, athletes from 150 countries of the world will take part in the tournament.
Many honourable guests are expected to arrive. Thus, the president of the World Taekwondo Federation Choue Chung-won expressed his desire to visit the tournament. The members of the Steering Committee of the world championship delivered invitations to many other known persons, including UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon and members of the International Olympic committee.
Our Championship, as all the Olympic Games hosted by Russia will make it into history with its innovative approach and striking premieres. It's the first time that a special Taekwondo Park will be located next to the venue of the championship, using a mobile application the participants and viewers will be able to see the schedule of competitions in the tournament, read the latest news and interviews with athletes, see the photo- and video reports and book a ticket for the contests. It is the first time the competition itself will be held in a changed format. Thus, the fights will be on five octagonal tatamis. It is the first time electronic helmets will be used in the contests contributing to objective judging during the tournament. In addition, the world’s strongest team of the World Taekwondo Federation from South Korea will perform in the competition itself and the largest grounds of the city. Alongside with that, performance of the demonstration taekwondo team from North Korea is also planned. That will be a historical moment of uniting two national teams.

Its main mission is to raise the prestige and authority of Russia in the global community," believes Maxim Karpov, Executive Director of Taekwondo Federation of the Chelyabinsk oblast and Director of the 2015 World Championship. “I would like to see Chelyabinsk knowable in the world map."
